Does style trump substance?

More Form than Substance. Right?

There are so many republican presidential candidates out there I don’t remember most of their names. Let’s see, there are Newt, Michele, Mit, john, Paul, Ringo, and George. Right. All smiling and ready to attack at an instant. “Well, okay. I’ll have my writers craft a response. Just hold on a minute.”
I didn’t watch last night’s debate. Did you? What did they say? The bigger question is, what did they say most Americans could identify with. What did the hopefuls say that could be of some importance to America in its present economic condition? Did they talk about how to create jobs? Jobs are the single most important issue asked by many out of work Americans. And I am most certain the prattle cry “Jobs jobs jobs” will be the shouting point by most republicans and democrats in 2012. Don’t ya think?
Never the less, what I read in this morning’s newspapers didn’t indicate the debating republican candidates had address any issues most Americans are concerned with. More like how each candidate can “Out Right” the other. Sort of an in-house food fight. Besmirching each other and not presenting workable plans to get America back on its feet. Am I right?
What a sorry bunch of bloviating right wing whacko. Do they not listen to their voting constituency? Do they not know there is a economic crisis out there? Do they not know there are people out of work? Do they not know hundreds of thousands of families have been locked out of their homes and foreclosed upon? Do they not know millions of Americans are struggling without health care? Do they not know there is a very unpopular war going on in Afghanistan? And they just talk about how the other candidate compromised him or herself by voting for a democratic principle. How sad. What a sip of fools.
All in all, from what I can determine, they are wanting to reconstruct the George W Bush style of government. Out of touch and bent on only helping the rich and big corporations. Is this what we want here in America? God help us all if we do.
