Richard Nixon had more going for himself.

When will they ever get it? Are they clueless? Where is the sensibility and common sense. Gone? Long time passing? Long long ago?

Surely the Republican voters have more good judgment than has been displayed in the past few months of Republican state primaries and caucuses. It is so obvious to the rest of the world that these four Looney-Toon Republican candidates are not Presidential material. Not even janitorial material. They are junior high sniveling twits. Just squirrel bate. Dog kibble or cat litter.

There must be some hope somewhere. Surely a Lincoln or Eisenhower will come out of the woodwork. Hopefully soon. Even a Gerald Ford would be acceptable. Anybody. Anyone with a willingness to work with both political parties. Someone who assumes the blame now and then. Not always blaming others. You know. “The buck stops here.”

But who? Someone who is an all around good guy or gal. Yes, a gal. It just might be the right time for a Woman President. Perhaps Olympia Snow. Yeah, go for it!

I will promise you this, I'll always say no.

While the junior grade presidential candidates are all bloviating how evil President Obama is, the president is getting things done in spite of a do-nothing-congress. Amidst all the hullabaloo of the primaries President Obama is at work and on the job. And if he isn’t in the Oval Office, the office goes wherever he goes.

But anyway, while the President is writing and proposing policy, the junior presidential want-a-bee’s are hard at work trying to redefine who President Obama is. Or, at least who they wish him to be. Even though he is not what they say. Never mind who the Republican leadership is and the candidates are.

If you can’t come up with reasonable policies or legislation for America, then slam your opponent. Make him or her look bad. A good lie or two helps. I am ashamed to admit it but the Republicans are only good at one thing. Labeling others and distorting the truth. More like ignoring the truth and slandering whomever they revile. They even disparage and pound each other. Mit loves to hammer Newt. Just watch and listen.

But the bottom line for Republican Presidential hopefuls is, they have no promises nor are they willing to make promises. I take that back. They promise to undo everything President Obama work hard for. No willing intent for the greater good. Just buyer beware and the banks and insurance companies want your money. And will be aided by congressional deregulation and fuzzy legislation

Now ask yourself this. Better yet, ask a Republican. Were Republicans the ones who came up with Health care reform? No. Was it Republicans that came up with consumer protection and banking regulation? No. Was it Republicans that brought back the automobile industry from disaster? No. Did congressional Republicans try to protect your drinking water and air quality? No. Was it Republicans who tried to protect all American’s civil rights and human equality? No. Was it Republicans who tried to promote quality education? No. Was it Republicans who want all Americans to earn at least a livable minimum wage? No. Is it the Republicans leadership that support public workers? No.

The Republicans hate public schools. They hate public school teachers. Republicans despise policemen and their unions. Also dislike firemen and their collective bargaining. And the same goes for nurses, social workers, school councilors, the board of education and on and on.

So, if you talk to a man or woman running for public office and they plan to get rid of Obamacare, ask him or her with what will they replace Obamacare with. How will they make health care affordable? What will they do with the millions of families without health care. What will they plan to do to develop alternative energy? How will they bring down the cost of gasoline. With what will they replace coal fire power plants with. Natural gas? Nuclear? Wind, solar, bio fuels or what?

What will happen is, you will get that silly smirk and a look of “are you kidding me?” Republicans don’t do that kind of stuff. We have no policies. No reforming legislation. Just criticism for the President. They hate the President. They think he’s a failure and America is going to hell in a hand basket. Oh, sure. Just look around.

Therefore, all the Republicans wants, is the President’s job. Nothing else. No progressive policies or helpful legislation for America. No health care. No clean air. No jobs. Temporary work on a pipeline is not a job or career.

All the Republicans can say, “Just give me the Whitehouse. I deserve it.” Oh? Really?

You guys are no longer qualified to run.

What do former Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, Ronald Reagan, and George H. W. Bush have in common? All were Republican? All were born in the United States? All were World War II five star Generals? All were movie stars? All were former vice presidents? Well. So far some of this is right.

Answer:
Here is what these respected Republican gentlemen have in common. Today in the severe conservative atmosphere, None of these Republican icons would ever be nominated for president by their own Party. Using the severe conservative criteria, not one of these former presidents would qualify as a Republican presidential candidate. At least not with today’s far right orthodoxy.

Here’s why. All have raised taxes. Two were Pro choice. None reduced the size of government. All had big spending programs. President Eisenhower had created the national Interstate Highway system. Spending billions of dollars building a vast Interstate highway network from border to border and coast to coast. All the while, putting to work tens of thousands of Americans to work on the huge road project. And guess what? Done with taxes.

Ronald Reagan raised taxes and gave amnesty to many undocumented foreign workers. Plus also offered forgiveness to Viet Nam draft dodgers who fled to Canada.

President G H W Bush, raised taxes after promising to not raise taxes. Remember, “Read my lips?”

All would fail to pass today’s conservative litmus test. Not enough lockstep with the party. They would be severely accused of being too Moderate. Maybe being accused of being too left leaning. Certainly not conscientiously following the party strident dogma. Consequently, all could never be considered for nomination representing the Republican Party in the November presidential election.

I wish the current crop of Republican presidential hopefuls would stop evoking the names of these former respected presidents. Especially since today’s Republican Party is completely far right of the former presidents. It just adds to the candidates hypocrisy and their disregard for the afore mentioned statesmen and their individual conservatism. Why do the Republicans do this to themselves? They just paint themselves into a corner with a pit bull.
God forgive us all and God bless America.

Being a former member of the Republican Party, I would vote for Richard Nixon before voting for the current lack-luster field of nare-do-wells. Dwight Eisenhower would certainly be a better choice. None the less, why can’t the Republicans find another Abraham Lincoln.? If pushed into a corner, I just might vote for Berry Goldwater, maybe. Possibly even Gerald Ford.



But vote for Mit, Newt, Rick, or Paul? Never. Never ever. Not ever or never. All are mental midgets compared to the afore mentioned Republican giants.

The bigger question is, why is the Republican Party’s collective heads buried in the dirt? Do you not see the problems in America? Contrary to campaign sloganeering, we still need jobs. Good jobs. Long term jobs. Jobs that can support a family and educate its children. Jobs that give health benefits to its workers. Middle America is hurting and Republicans can help. Just pull your heads out of the sand and look around. There is a real issue in every direction. Issues needing your help.



You guys need to regroup and reorganize. Find meaningful issues to solve and get busy. Again, jobs are the first issue to resolve. Then Education, health, environment and the list goes on.



Roll up your sleeves and get busy. Herbert Hoover needs your help. So does America.

Only if you hadn't said all those things. Darn!

So Mit, what’s happening? Your lead is evaporating. Polls show Santorum is gaining on you. And, in some cases going ahead. So what is this? How do you explained this? A fluke? Bad luck? Your big mouth? Who knows?

Certainly it has nothing to do with you being out of touch does it? Maybe a little bit aloof and riding in first class too often perhaps. Maybe you should trade in your limo for a Pickup. Put on your sweats and sneakers and go walking out among them. Get your hands dirty. Go eat a little chicken-fry with the Bubbas.

Actually, nothing will help at this point. It’s too late. Your Ivy League Bizman image is cast and dyed. Too late to flip flop now. Too many media types are watching and listening. You’ve got the sound bite microphone. Reporters are reporting. Journalist are journalizing. Cable news is cabling. The nightly news is newsing. You, my friend, are on the hot seat. And, obviously you have said too much. Maybe you should just shut-up!

What would it really be like to just ride in on a load of pumpkins? Then stop on Main Street America and hop off. Just arrived out of nowhere. Not knowing anything. Or anybody. Green and uninitiated. A freshman from the cornfields. Possibly ignorant of current events.

Then, to be confronted by TV, radio, and cable news. Broadcasting and bloviating the political events of the day. Haranguing rhetoric, shouting, fist banging, accusations, sound bites, red faced grimaces, narrowed eyes, and barking bla-bla-bla. Carrying on like you’ve never seen before. How scary that would be.

You look around taking in sights and sounds you’ve never witnessed before. Thinking you got off at the wrong bus stop. Possibly in a dangerous neighborhood. A neighborhood filled with troubled people. Possibly inhabitants not taking their prescribed ADD meds. Just a bunch of Hypertensive ridalin popping misfits. “Holy moly! When’s the next bus going back home?”

Then you might think, maybe this is where carnival Sideshows “Carny people” train. Yes, of course, this is Circus City. Sure that’s it. P T Barnum once lived here. That’s it. I’m lost and need to leave right away.

Get me out of here. These politicians people are nuts. They scare me. They almost look cannibal like. Mom come get me! Help!

Is Congress filled with Choirboys?

I want to make a few remarks about religion constraining and exploiting politics. And vise-versa. First of all religion has no place in politics. And politics has no place in religion.

But before we get started, to me religion is an organization. Not a spiritual form or Holy commitment before God and man. The Bible does not talk about religion. Religion is membership and money. Not love peace and joy. More like belonging to a poor mans country club. You must follow the rules or be at risk from being shamed or ostracized.

What I see and hear on TV news and most recently from the Republican debates is more religious fervor and not Holiness. More intent on country club bylaws rather than Holy Scripture. More dogma instead promoting goodness and truth.

In today’s political world, religiosity and its member structure needs willing politicians to do its demagoguery. Do it bidding. Likewise willing politicians need organized religion to fund their campaign. Both feed on each other. Making strange bedfellows. Sort of like sleeping with the devil. However, not sure which one is the devil.

But anyway, what really provokes my sensibility is the moralist politicians claiming to be the chosen voice of the “Evangelicals.” Evangelicals? What is a Evangelical? Jesus didn’t call himself an Evangelical. So it can be surmised Evangelicals are not necessarily Christian. At least Evangelicals behavior suggests they probably are not Christian.

Christians are loving, peaceful, serving people. Not self-serving opportunistic politicians. Christians will give up much of their own worth to help others. Helping the sick. Helping the homeless. Feeding the hungry. Visiting the imprisoned. And maintaining a humble and self-denying presents. “Religion” and it rigid structure is quite the opposite of Christianity. Evangelical is just code word for “do as I say or else.”

Well, enough is enough. More about this later. God bless America and it’s errant politicians

The Fewer pushing around the Many.

Now here is today’s political question:
How is it that Mit Romney is at the top of the polling heap but many far right conservatives and evangelicals are against his candidacy?

Well, someone out there must think he is qualified for the job anyway in spite of his so-called religious cult beliefs. Maybe some are taken by his general political image. Image as in style of hair. Perhaps Republican voters are impressed by his authoritative manner and commanding oratory. You have to give him credit, he does pose an impressive TV persona. Never mind that he flip-flops and lies often.

Nonetheless, his rise to the top is not by accident. There are obviously more Republican folks out there who feel he can do the job. Certainly more voting folks than those who see him only as a non-evangelical or a cult member. Thus other Republicans saying being evangelical is not all that is important in being a Republican presidential candidate.

So one could easily surmise, those Republicans who are non-compromising on religious membership are in the minority. However, trying to speak for the majority. When in fact they are fewer in number than they wish us to believe. Creating a “Wizard of Oz” effect. Well, just read the story.

Once again, showing how the political smoke screen works. The FEW trying to push the MANY into submission. Lie enough and they will follow. Oh really? Thank goodness it seldom works. God Bless America.

Who are these people anyway?

It is still not known what the Republican Party stands for. They don’t like your social security. They want to get rid of your Medicare. Republicans are set against clean air and water. Selling oil and burning coal is more important than conserving America’s energy resources.

Nonetheless, there seems to be no proactive policies to make America better. No public transportation policies. No positive health care initiatives. No bold and forward looking education policies.

Just cut taxes for the rich and shrink government (whatever that means).

Who are these people? What do they want? It is most apparent they want to kill all social programs, kill consumer protection, shrink education, get rid of any programs that serves the nonworking and working poor. Then in turn fund only the military and protect oil, gas, and coal companies. Sucking oil out of the ground is more important than helping single moms and their dependents.

What kind of people are these? Uncaring, self-serving, war and money mongers, psychopaths, narcissistic, and generally people of the military-industrial complex. Just as President Eisenhower warned us.

These are the people who are running congress and the Defense Department as we speak. Is this what we want to run the Whitehouse? People with no interest in your well-being? Wanting to reduce your role as citizen to that of consumer drone. Just buy and use what we tell you and shut up. This is what happened with the G W Bush administration and look what happened. Major recession and an increase in joblessness and homelessness.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is your Republican Party.

Iowa? Where is it?

Gale Collins had a very interesting and head scratching Op-Ed in the NY Times today. She ass the question what about Iowa and why should we care. And she is talking about the Iowa Republican caucuses.

She points out there are about, on a good clear and sunny day, a hundred thousand caucus participants. A population less than Boise, Idaho. Mostly white. Mostly affluent. Mostly overly religious. Mostly old. A segment of the social spectrum that is quickly becoming a minority. Insignificant. Irrelevant. Unyielding and stodgy.

Will the African-American community care? Will the Hispanic community care? Will L A, New York, Houston, or Chicago care? No, no, no, and no.

So why are there thousands of TV, cable, and print news media hounds floating about and all those satellite trucks parked hither and yon all over Iowa? Well, just watch the nightly news. It sells ads. It fills in all the blank spaces in the news. It’s reality TV and it’s cheap to produce. Most of all millions of Americans have nothing better to do but watch mindless broadcast and cable news. And is better than Desperate Housewives.

Fifty years ago Iowa was billed as the first voter’s poll. Back then when a more moderate voter attended the caucuses. Sometimes giving a reasonable cross section of Middle America thinking. Not so anymore. It has not followed the sociological and ethnic trends. Thus rendering it out of touch. Caught in a political time warp. Meaningless and almost silly. Iowa! Get a life!

I knew Ronald reagan and quite frankly you are not Ronald Reagan.

If Ronald Reagan were to reincarnate himself and return to the office of the President, all the TEA partiers, libertarians, far right fundamentalist, and all extremists to the right would be horrified of Reagan’s moderate and compromising politics. They totally ignore Reagan’s tax increases he signed in the 1980s. The far right has ignored his compromises with congress.

My point here is I wish the Rightist would stop invoking the name of Reagan and stop using his name in vain. The far right fundamentalist Republicans has obviously not read Reagan’s history and politics. So, just stop-it! Your invocations of Reaganism as being parallel to your own are obscene and completely false. Just stop your vain comparison!

We need a candidate resume with ALL experiences listed.

If only there was someone capable to run for the Republicans. I really feel sorry for the Republican Party. No candidates worth a flip. Not a one in the bunch worth anything. All political dogs. Ill informed, far from main stream thinking, paid off by lobbyists, and mostly dim-witted. Not one reasonable Presidential Candidate in the Republican Party.

Isn’t there someone out there? Is there not one Republican with a reasonable I Q? Perhaps the Republican Party should recruit a qualified candidate from the Independents. Someone with a moderate approach. Someone both the Republicans and Democrats can warm up to.

A candidate with true American values. Someone who knows the U S Constitution and how it came about. Someone who has read the intellect of the founding fathers and what inspired the writings of the Declaration of Independence. What were the founders were thinking before the declaration was signed and acted on. Why did the writers and signers of the Declaration of Independence come to the conclusion America needed to be free from England? What was it that motivated the early resisters to the British Crown?

Perhaps we should go back and study what happened and capture the spirit of Independence. Experience what real Imperial suppression was. What freedom really means.

I just don’t see or know of anyone in the Republican Party that gives the impression he or she is knowledgeable and mature enough to be President of the United States. Leader of the free world. Champion of Life, Liberty, and a pursuant of happiness. A believer of the Constitution. A defender of justice and a keeper of the law. And, most of all beholding to no Corporation, no ideology, dogma, or shallow and self-serving pledges.

Theory of Relativity?

Here is my one conspiracy theory. And, I must add, everyone who is a citizen of the world is entitled to just one theory of conspiracy by law. So, here is my one conspiracy theory as allowed by the heavily monitored social and political conspiracy ruling. Are you following me?

Here it is: Libraries and schools are the enemy of the Conservatives. Or maybe it’s the other way around. Either way it doesn’t matter. Nonetheless, being smart does not fly high in the Republican Party.

Case in point: Rick Perry. The dumbest man on Earth. Have so many holes shot in his foot he now travels by wheel chair. Someone please take away his “Open Carry” cheap shots. When will he ever get it right?

Mit Romney: The master of Wishy Washy Flippy Floppies. Can’t make up his mind and give a final pronouncement. What he has said keeps changing and I’m certain it will continue as necessary. A most undependable witness to the truth. How will we ever know what he is thinking?

Herman Cain: Not sure where Libya is. Not really sure where he has been and with whom? Man has a bad memory for past events in his personal life. Thirteen years? He doesn’t remember the 13-year fling? Was he drunk all that time?

Michele Bachmann: Just can’t remember all those pertinent facts. Elvis’ birthday or death? John Quincy Adams? Writer of the Constitution? Nope. And, the list keeps growing.

Need we go on? Who are these candidates’ advisors? Pe Wee Herman? Charlie Sheen? Will they ever get it together? Come on Republicans! Where are your intelligent candidates? Not born yet? Holy Moly! November 2012 is coming soon. Get it together.

Watching the nightly news is torture.

Is it over yet? Has the carnival moved off the lot and did the buffoonish clowns go as well? Most of all is this traveling political Vaudeville show over with yet? How much longer must we endure this haranguing mental abuse on the nightly news?

To say this Republican Debate is an insult to America’s intelligence is a gross understatement. It is more like cruelty to the listener/viewer. Water torture would be preferred to the dopiness heard from the mouths of political ignoramuses. How much longer must we suffer? Why do we deserve this?

Please Mr. and Mrs. Broadcaster and cable operator, stop this. We’ve heard enough. It only makes each candidate look bad. None of these candidates are fit to run a small time “Dog and Pony” show; much less a government. Where is the proverbial ‘Neck Hook’ to pull them off stage? Spare us! Save us from mental anguish. Save us from Posttraumatic political season disorder. Have mercy. Uncle-uncle-uncle!

Put down your mouse and pick up a newspaper

My twelfth grade civics teacher would probably wet his pants, if he could hear what the current presidential candidates are saying. My teacher would say, “Don’t they read the newspaper? Haven’t they ever read American history?”

It is amazing what ignorance these guys and gal display. To me it is most embarrassing when they speak in public. How did they ever graduate from high school? What self-respecting college or university would admit them into their institution of higher learning? God save us from this obvious display of lack of education.

And this is not to mention just a lack of general knowledge. There are newspapers, magazines, and books that are being overlooked by these candidates. What on earth is on their reading list? The funnies? Sporting news? Gourmet magazine? What?

I hate to say it but these candidates are S-T-U-P-I-D! Unaware, ill-informed, and outright ignoramuses. Holy Moly!
