In regards to the current debate on immigration. Certainly debating why the federal government isn’t more directly involved or making better laws to govern such. My belief is that the current Supreme Court debate of the Arizona and Alabama immigration and racial profiling laws are one based on pure politics. Wanting to blame one person…President Obama.
Consider this, collectively Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H W BushI, and George W BushII had twenty years to make this right. But, didn’t . Why?
The answer, politics. Immigration laws involves too many voting Latinos and Hispanics. A major voting block. Political suicide could come as a result of passing either Amnesty or harsh deporting laws.
All parties involved must sit down together and hammer out a workable law and go with it. The President, Congress, the boarder states, and representatives of the Hispanic community can do this. This should not be a matter of politics. It’s a matter of international law and national immigration law. If America needs young eager workers then speed up the immigration work Visas. Plus tax the immigrants and the places they work for To cover education and medical expenses.
I personally believe Amnesty should be considered for immigrants living here with children. At least get all immigrants on the Tax rolls. It would be best for business and good for America.
However, to hammer Obama for lack of immigration enforcement is ridiculous. You would have to go back to the Eisenhower administration and then go forward and blame all the remaining presidents and their reluctant congresses for this cumulative mess. This problem will never be resolved unless politics is taken out of the equation. But as it stands, it’s politics at its worse.
