Why can’t we move meaningful legislation through congress? Legislation that would benefit most Americans but blocked. Like health care, education, banking regulation, clean environment, etc. Meaningful legislation which is held back by a few Politicized issues. Legislation road blocked by congressmen and women leveraging their own agenda hidden under a shroud of Hot-button issues. Hot-button issues which only serve the few. Issues born from so called moralists and religionists.
You know what the issues are. Issues which belong within the moral or religionist’s body. The Church. Issues which a church can’t seem to promote by its own usual means. Prayer, good works, and faith. Which is to almost say the church seems to has lost its faith in prayer. More like lost its faith in a higher power.
Therefore, the religionist have joined forces with a few congressmen and women to do the church’s bidding. “If we can’t get this done by moral means, let’s find a few willing legislators with money and influence. Then pursue the church’s agenda by contrived moralistic laws. Why suffer through difficult church work when the church can solicit the help of a few willing congress people. People willing to trade off their lawmaking help for votes from the church. Certainly an Odd Couple. Producing political/religion “strange bed-fellows.” Both intent on commandeering the natural flow of normal legislation. All to promote a finite cause while promoting a political candidate and his or her narrow interests. All in one fell swoop. Never mind what the rest of America needs or wants. Government sidetracked and distracted away from its usual business of making good laws. All to pass laws supporting Hot-button politicized causes. Congressmen and women working for the church. And the church willing to vote against their best interest only to pass moralistic laws. Laws not serving the best interest of all America. God forgive us.
