How long are we going to ignore this issue? Do we want a Congress beholding to the corporation’s narrow interests? Interests seeking more tax cuts, fewer regulations, free to pollute, ramping up more predatory lending, banks teetering on the brink of bankruptcy, putting the tax burden on the middle class, free to spend any amount of money to buy a Congressman or woman, and all not beholding to government or anyone. Totally in the shadows with no transparency. Just do as they please.
Or do you want a Congress working for the voters. Giving allegiance to their local constituency and creating legislation beneficial to the American people. Job creation, providing health benefit, support for quality education, more teachers, more police and fire responders, and providing a safe and secure land of natural beauty and resourceful promise. Pretty much how our fore fathers wanted it. Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and Roosevelt. Possibly even Reagan, Kennedy, and Eisenhower. All wanting the best for America.
When left unregulated, corporations have only one interest. Profit, share holders, and make it as cheap as you can. Sending jobs overseas to low wage countries, while taking good jobs from Americans.
So, it’s yours and my decision. Keep the current congress. A congress like a monkey on a string. And the corporations are holding the strings.
Or vote for only those candidates who have the best interest of America in mind. Loyal only to voters in your district or state. True Americans. Pledging to resist big corporate money and work only for the people who elected them.
It’s your decision. A responsible congress or a congress lured by deep pocketed lobbyists and robber barons.
