God save us all from Hot Buttons.

Once again, it’s the single issue voter that holds the rest of us hostage. Our economic future is put on hold because of blind religious fervor. It’s all Hot Button or nothing at all.

Many of us want and need jobs but that notion is squelched by one or two emotional issues. Issues which should be resolved in churches and not in congress. Did Jesus go to the Roman Forum or the Jewish high council to influence his own covenants or beatitudes? No! He prayed to his Father in Heaven instead.

But anyway, we are talking about Mostly people voting for issues which may never be resolved. But in the meantime, legislation to create jobs, good education, provide health benefit for the poor; all are passed over in favor of the Hot Button. And you know what they are. Cultural issues and not economic. Pushing Americans further and further into debt, bankruptcy, and homelessness. All to just support a congressional candidate who loves controversy as a smoke screen. Smoke screening the real issues troubling most Americans. Congress members thwarting real life day to day issues in favor of exchanging votes from unsuspecting religious organizations. Organizations unaware of the hidden agenda of the Congress Person. Congress people using duplicity and misrepresentation for personal gain. That and further the agenda of the congress member’s secret donors. Mostly donors with ill intent. Tax cuts for the rich, unlimited use of air and water as their own pollution dumping ground.

Hot Button people, wake up! See what is happening to you and the rest of America. We are suffering because of your blind faith. And the bottom line is, you are voting against your own interests and the interest of 99-percent of Americans. Have mercy on us. Please vote for health, education, and jobs for all Americans. God help us all and save us from these Hot Button congressmen and women.

Put down that Hotbutton! Pick up that voting ballot!

So how do we fix America? What’s wrong with America anyway? First of all we have to determine what is really wrong with America. We have a difficult time figuring out what America actually needs and wants. Health? Education? Welfare? Or, what? It’s not that simple.

Some say Same Sex marriage is what’s wrong with America. Some say contraception and abortion is what’s wrong with America. Some say too many restrictions and regulations on the free market. All of which is a concern.

However the above problems mostly affect a small minority of Americans. Whereas lack of good health care, education, jobs, clean water, clean air, affordable housing, affordable transportation, and other basic needs affects tens of millions of Americans. Much bigger than the above mentioned social and financial issues. Affecting almost up to 200-million Americans. Americans need good jobs. Americans needing basic health care. Americans needing good training and advanced education. And again, millions of Americans with basic needs which far outnumber seemingly small numbers of people concerned about hotbutton issues. Hot button issues which stand in the way of real American’s progress.

So the trick is to come together and decide on what most Americans need. Putting aside the issues that affect only a small portion of people. Mostly issues tossed out by ill intended politicians looking to distract and control American voters. Politicians manipulating and using religion to further the politicians own self interests. Charlatans in the First Degree.

We need to get rid of politicians with hidden agendas. We need to bring congressmen from both sides of the political divide together and unite in one cause. The cause? A more prosperous and healthy America. Jobs for all. Education for all. And, health care for all. God bless America.

Congress is the ball and chain of progress.

While the rest of us are struggling with congress to pass meaningful legislation, a few champions of hot button issues, countermand our efforts. A few people, well meaning I’m sure, hold our entire efforts hostage. Held hostage by one maybe two self-serving issues. Issues like Don’t tax the rich” or “anti-immigration laws” or “Oil pipelines built across America” or any number of single issues that enable a few congressmen or special interest groups to roadblock meaningful laws. Laws that could benefit the greater population. Legislation that would enable the hiring of more teachers, more police or fire professional, or create beneficial public works jobs. Nonetheless, single issues that hold America and it’s needed progress at bay. Stopped. Shut down by misguided congressman and lobbyists. Bringing the entire government to its knees. Just for the sake of “Having it our way.” Never mind what is really needed in America. Health care, education, good roads and bridges, better mass transportation, better public safety, and the list of worthwhile projects are endless. All thwarted by egomaniacal creeps who only purpose is to facilitate the few and powerful. Big Oil. Big Banks. Big coal and gas. Bigheaded morons commandeering government. Hijacking our constitutional process. How do we stop this? Vote!

Should we look at our feet or at the horizon?

It has been troubling to me to know people that base their politics only on one issue. For example, Gay Rights, Abortion, tax cuts, science, anti-science, prayer in school, funding public school, Open Carry, and the single issues are endless. People choosing one issue and the other equally as important issues be dammed.

So if one presidential candidate is an okay choice but one issue, some voters won’t vote for that person. For example Mit Romney. He seems inline with almost all Republican talking points. However, he is Mormon. Mormon? Is that so bad? If he is qualified, why not vote for him.

Also President Obama. He seems inline with most Democrats issues except he has furthered the war in Afghanistan. Many voters don’t like that. Is this a good reason to not vote for Obama? He seems sympathetic to environment and health issues. So why choose one issue and discount all the rest.

But, as we know many single issues are based more on partisan politics. Not on pragmatism. Ignoring the greater good. Yes, that old word “Compromise” dilutes your candidate’s image. Thus in turn, forcing you to vote for the other guy or gal just for spite. This is good politics?

Plus we put too much emphasis on party than the man or woman and their political, moral, and ethical beliefs. And, this seems to happen when we as individuals are more influenced by party rather than a qualified candidate.

Would you not buy a car only because it has no cigarette lighter in the back seat? No. Would you not adopt a child only because he or she had red hair? Of course you would adopt that precious child regardless of hair color.

Please please Mr. and Ms. America. Look at the whole candidate. Look at his or her basic morals and intelligence. Not just where he or she stands on a single issue. We must vote for America and not just a single issue. Single issue votes work against the basic principles of the Constitution. We must look at the bigger picture and work to that end. God bless America.
